Training Courses @ Beechpark
Beechpark, Ireland’s best equipped recording studio begins offering
training courses from October 2008.
The course is ideal for recording musicians and engineers who are interested
in practical, hands-on learning and gaining experience in a professional
studio environment. In avoiding the kind of topics that students can easily
cover for themselves, we aim to focus on the kind of skills that are best
passed on from experienced tutors and lecturers.
These skills and knowledge gained will benefit recording enthusiasts of
all skill levels and experience.
Phase One of the course focuses on the basic skills and information that every engineer needs at their disposal.
Topics include:
Metering
Gain Staging
Routing, patcbays, mic and signal flow.
Cabling + Interconnects
Basic Microphone types and characteristics
Microphone placement and phase.
Basic Daw Skills and Tricks
Session/File management and Backups
Automation
Phase Two focuses on practical days where students will get to spend
time with some of the fantastic gear that Beechpark offers.
Students will be able to make first hand comparisons between some of the
biggest names in audio, including Neve, API, GML, Neumann, Urei and many
more.
The centrepiece of Phase Two involves the recording of a song with a live
band from start to finish. From setup through tracking and mixing, this
is the perfect chance to see professional techniques in action, with each
student getting fully involved in the process.
In Phase Three, students get invaluable access to top professionals with
a series of guest lectures, demonstrations and question&answer sessions.
Here, the top engineers that use Beechpark’s facilities share their
knowledge, expertise and techniques.
Mixing engineers demonstrating their work for the class, Mastering Engineers
answering questions about their field and professionals from the TV, Radio,
Sound for picture and emerging Sound Design/Computer Game Sound industries
will provide students with invaluable knowledge and insight.
