8300 MICROPHONE PREAMPLIFIER
From GEORGE MASSENBURG LABS
The basic design of the GML 8300 Microphone Preamplifier is derived from the input module of the GML Master Recording Console, long regarded as having the finest signal throughput quality of any audio console. Listening analysis has lead us to believe that this is the most versatile and musical sounding circuit topology available. This new unit is hand built and calibrated in limited production quantities using selected components.
At Beechpark we use this unit constantly. Signals can be routed straight to 'tape' thus bypassing the console electronics entirely. It is noticeable how many recordings do not need equalisation when recorded with this dedicated Mic Pre.
Especially good for vocals and acoustic instruments where no EQ in desirable..
Discrete Bipolar Topology No FET'S or lc's in signal path
Transformerless Active servos for D-C- stabilization
No FET's or IC's in signal path
Discrete-transistor designs provide more headroom, less noise (i.e. more dynamic range), wider bandwidth, increased stability, resistance to high-frequency oscillation and the influence of out-of-band signals on audio.
